Actually I gave up trying to fix it and just backed up the DB and data then did a clean install and restored from the backup. Worked like a charm. I decided to do this because I was posting the working version of the link to a facebook page and the resulting info facebook adds for links was for an internet drug site, not my comic site. Suspecting foul play, I thought a scorched earth policy was the best course of action. Greetings, ettore.
